I would be the first to agree that our Blog is not the final word on pensions. There are just so many subtleties, nuances, opinions and options about pensions that even a Pensions Wikipedia would not be enough to cover everything. What we have tried to do however is provide a reasonably comprehensive look at those aspects of pensions that a newly retired or aspiring retiree would wish to consider and understand before committing themselves to 25-30 years of managing their own retirement propserity. This reading list complements that coverage and hopefully allows those really interested to delve deeper into topics that interest them.
Like in the rest of the blog we have sought out those sources that provide comprehensive and easy to read guides, often created by the companies who want you to entrust them with your pension. We have split the list into sections. If you have looked at our ‘Choosing a Pension Provider’ section you will hopefully have been able to narrow down a few providers that you want to explore further. In our list under each provider we include a link to their guides and magazines, so have a look at those listed under the providers you are interested in – they will give you an even better feel as to whether the provider is right for you.
In the second section we list some just plain useful guides that I have discovered whilst putting the blog together. Most are from independent sources, but as with the provider guides do maintain a healthy scepticism about the motives behind the creation of the guides.
So – two sections, one for provider driven material and one for more general material. Just click on the links below to go to each section.
