Pensions and Investment Guides
Most pension providers have all of the information you will require somewhere on their site. However, you often have to hunt for it and very few have specific guides where all the information on a particular topic is contained in one document. The ones listed below are those I have personally found most useful in my own research. They are not recommendations as to the suitability of the provider for your particular circumstances and, as they like to say on the BBC, there are other sources available.
A comprehensive set of well written guides (over 25 on a variety of relevant topics) and fact sheets on all aspects of Pension planning, available to download:
A series of over 25 well written and jargon-light guides covering all aspects of Pension Investing. Hargreaves Lansdown also produce a regular Investment Times magazine with interesting articles, investment ideas and research. This is accompanied on most occasions by a pensions specific supplement containing more relevant pension news and information. All are downloadable:
Trustnet Direct does not provide guides per se but their web site is attractive, with excellent use of graphics and layout to explain and clarify investing concepts. They also adopt a very intuitive navigation system based upon sub menus for ‘I want to’… PLAN, CHOOSE, BUY, MANAGE. Their graphs and charting features are some of the best I have come across and you will see examples dotted around the blog. They also publish Trustnet Magazine, a glossy mag which comes out every month and contains useful articles on investment and pensions planning. It is normally a good read!
Fidelity Personal Investing
Fidelity Personal Investing has just won the award for Best Advice from respected consultancy Platforum (Oct 2015) so their offering is worthy of mention. The Guidance Circle (see image) is not intended specifically for pensions advice but is a great jumping off point if you are confused or overwhelmed by the mass of information out there. An example of how a well designed graphic can provide clarity!
